Inspire2Aspire Consulting teamed up with the Special Needs Network of Hong Kong (SNNHK) to host a Mindfulness and Self-Compassion workshop for the parents of special needs children.
SNNHK is a networked community supporting parents and caregivers of children with special needs and disabilities in Hong Kong. SNNHK empowers parents and caregivers to enhance the knowledge and skillsets of parents/caregivers of children with special needs and invite experts to deliver workshops about on caregiver wellbeing.
When our Chief Happiness Officer, Mahesh Pamnani, heard about the session, it was such a wonderful opportunity to help those that really need it.
Mahesh had taught an 18-hour long course on Mindfulness and Self-Compassion at the University of Hong Kong.
"It was tough trimming down the material, but we focused on the most important skills to cope with the stresses of special needs care," he says.
In this experiential workshop we shared several self-compassion and mindfulness based practices that participants found immediately useful and could apply concepts learnt almost immediately. Examples included emotional grounding, centering, and taking self-compassion breaks.
"Self-compassion is simply giving the same kindness to ourselves that we give to others" Christopher Germer
